Our 6-Step Process Explained
01. Planning
02. Design
03. Costing
04. Approval
05. Installation
06. Completion
To start, review the most current style selections to identify your own personal look that you want to achieve. Everyone has their own unique style and taste. These may range from a modern design to a more classic style.
Kitchen and Bath design magazines and websites are a key resource for you to start with. Once you have settled on major design elements of your project, set up a visit in our showrooms with one of our Designers to see how your thoughts and ideas incorporate with our products.
Then, schedule a professional home consult with your Designer to ensure the products will look right in your space. The Designer will then get exact measurements for you project.
Deem’s Designers will then get to work to provide you with a computer generated, architectural drawing. With these drawings, you will then start the process of budgeting for your construction project.
The scope of work to include your Kitchen/Bathroom project may, but not always, require building permits. Where a building permit is required, we will need detailed construction drawings. This is a very important phase of your project, since these assist your Designer in communicating with the construction personnel exactly where things should be placed according to your personal wants and needs.
When the working drawings are complete, we are able to get you accurate pricing on what you want. The architectural construction drawings are custom designed for your project and are created especially for you and or your family.
They represent hours of work by trained professionals and are yours to keep when you approve Deems Kitchens & Counters Professional Design Agreement.
Once a Design Agreement is signed, the actual costing of your project can be done. All elements of your design that Deem’s will be responsible for will be incorporated into the cost of your project.
This costing phase will take into account the types of materials you have chosen, along with the Kitchen or Bathroom Design, other products or accessories, and of course Delivery and Labor to get them to your project and Professionally Installed.
All of Deem’s Proposals and/or contracts will spell out exactly what you are paying for. There are NO hidden fees associated with our bids. Once we have agreed on the proposed amount and a payment schedule, we can assign your project with an estimated start date.
A 50% deposit is charged at the time of your order. The remaining balance will be charged based upon the approved payment schedule for the duration of your project.
The final agreement will detail the entire scope of your project, item by item, including all product and services. Review the Agreement carefully, noting any changes before Approving and Signing.
We aim for 60 days, from planning through completion for kitchen and bathroom renovation projects. But, it could be longer based on the size and complexity of the project. Cabinets usually require 3-4 weeks for production from the date of the purchase order and most jobs are completed 4-5 weeks thereafter.
Just remember, that you should only be without your existing kitchen during the time of install.
Our team of professionals will work to keep you informed from the point of ordering to scheduling your product delivery. Thereafter, you are assigned your own Project Manager who becomes your point of contact and coordinated areas such as preparation of the workspace, tear-out and any other services required for the smooth execution of your project.
This is the time for new paint or plaster before the cabinets are installed. It is recommended to have the plumbing waste and water pipes inspected for leaks and cut and capped to ensure a clean look under the sink.
Cabinets normally will take 1-3 days to properly install, based on an average size kitchen or bathroom. It may be longer depending on the size and complexity of the project. Countertops will then be templated and turned in to our fabrication facility.
Allow 2-3 weeks for top production from template date. After the tops are installed, final finishes can be finished and or applied. Mosaic or other tile backsplashes require a minimum of 1-2 days for installation after the countertop and plumbing have been installed.
Every project is different and will be planned based upon the Scope of Work you approve.
Upon completion of your project, your Project Manager will conduct a final inspection and walk-through with you to ensure that the job as been completed according to your agreement.
Please prepare any questions or concerns you have, before this final inspection, as this is the time to address them. Our Job Completion Form will allow you to note additional requests. Limited Warranties are provided on our products; take the time to go over the different items with your Project Manager.
